I Love Altering!

Here is a clock I've just finished (have to get the 'jobs' done before I can play with my new dies!). I have had this paper stashed for a long time because I love it so much but how much can a person have eh... it was time to pull it out and make something! So, I bought a really cheap clock - got some supplies from Colleen's store and away I went... here is the finished clock.

Has Anyone Been Spoiled

We've been shopping and I just have to say... I have found the perfect set of dies for me!! I spoiled myself but since I do make a lot of mini albums I thought of all the gifts I could make to actually save money... ha ha ha... (it will take awhile to make it pay off!) so for all you album makers out there, here it is!

I have been working on a travel album for my daughter who recently spent a month in Italy backpacking with a friend. It is still in the works but here's a sneak peek... (the paper is available in the store and is great to work with!) I hope she doesn't check this blog because it will be her Christmas gift!

And, if anyone is looking for some of the Basic Grey page kits I think Colleen has some at the store although I don't know if she has posted them on the site - so just give her a call or email her (before I get there and buy some more... ha ha ha!) For a peek at them check out one of my previous posts... I've still got to finish the last one then I'll upload the ones that I haven't posted yet.

So... I bought some june bug...

I'm not usually into using bright papers and was a little intimidated by this paper line but once I got using it... WOW... I love it! It's time to come out of the box and try some new things I think so there will definately be more layouts and maybe even some mini albums done with this paper.

This layout is a little subdued on account of the lighting in this room... all the papers are double-sided and there are some bright sides that's for sure!

I am a Basic Grey lover and lucky me got a peek at the September and October page-of-the-month kits... all I can say is LET ME AT THEM!!

Let's see some Basic Grey

I posted these on my other site but since I have been doing them through Dragonfly Scrapbooking I think they should also go on here for whoever might like to try a kit... or two... or all of them!! They are just great, so easy to do and you can customize them... I followed the directions exactly for the first couple and then went off a little and added some other details... here they are:

January:
February:

March:

April:

May:
June:
I'm now working on July using Basic Grey's 'june bug' papers.

Quick Layouts!

These four layouts were all done using 4 cardstock and 4... yes 4 papers! I got a 'recipe' during a recent online crop and loved how easy it was to do this just following the cutting instructions.

How about some great die cut paper

How many time have you looked at those beautiful lacy papers and then passed them by because they were too pretty?!! I have a small stash of them but happened to be doing an online crop lately and HAD to use one... now I see that they are also pretty being used so I am going to start using them more often (and then I can buy more...ha ha ha!)
the flowers and title are chipboard; a punch was used to do the bottom of the red mat, then I used white cardstock behind the black die cut paper.

Let's Use Some Old Paper!

So, are you like me and have a stash of paper a mile high?? Come on... I know you do! I dug deep and found some Scenic Route paper that says... 2003 on the back and it was perfect for this layout...
This is my grandmother, who was an actress, in 1945. I had been hanging onto this paper just for this purpose and only have one more sheet of it... and lots of photos - so I will be digging deep again! Colleen... I will be coming over to the store for sure soon and going through your collection!

It's Been Awhile

But I've been busy working on a little Easter mini album! I just love these little chipboard houses - you can do so much with them. I've also used Scenic Route's Lyden papers and some chipboard shapes as well as the Lynden Easter Cardstock Stickers. My grandaughter had a great time hunting for Easter eggs and loves it when she can look through the mini books I've made for her, that's the great thing about them, they are easy for small hands to hold!

Layout Using Older Paper

I have been doing a challenge at another site using older papers and embellishments. I've always loved Basic Grey's lines and have lots of the older ones stashed in my scrap room just waiting for that perfect photo. Here's one I've just finished, using some of the Oh Baby collection; it just seemed to be the perfect paper for this little sweetie!

The photo is mounted on the hidden part of the chipboard flower so 'floats' off the paper. I used thickers lettering and painted it pink, then coated it with glossy accents.

I think it's time for ...

A christmas layout!

for some reason it looks a little dull - my lighting is not so great! This is some Basic Grey Dasher paper: Peppermint Stick and Yule Log... I love that there is a little pink in it to go with the photo of the cup (which is raised up on pop dots). I used some pink gems on the journaling strips too. The snow flake is a Technique Tuesday chipboard shape covered with the Peppermint stick paper.

Pocket Cookie

I love this photo of Maria... I made her a dress and panties one summer and put a cookie in the pocket - she loved the dress and the cookie but thought she had to leave the cookie in the pocket so she is eating it while it is still in the pocket!!

This layout uses Basic Grey's sugared 'beloved'; Perhaps 'East of the Sun' and Infuse 'Sugar' alphabet stickers (mounted onto paper and cut out). Also, I had a heart chipboard shape left over from a Basic Grey card kit so covered it with paper. I am always amazed at how different lines, of different years, of Basic Grey can be combined. I guess that's why it's my favorite!
I sanded the edges of the photo to give it a slightly distressed look; I ripped the 'beloved' paper and curled the edges; used a chipboard shape from my stash and painted it with Making Memories 'spotlight', added some crackle finish and when it was dry painted it with 'manila'.

Time for a Layout

I often have trouble with 'boy' layouts... I have the photos but don't always know what to do when it comes to doing a layout with them. The 'archaic' line of Basic Grey's is perfect for boys, not only are there dinosaurs but lots of different shapes on the papers... and they are slightly distressed too!
This layout (which is really 12 x 12 and not as oddly shaped as the photo looks) uses 'rusty', 'boulder' and 'pods' and bazzill 'sienna'. I've added some lettering which is CI's Blueprint ABC stickers as well as some chipboard shapes covered with the paper.

Here are some close ups of the shapes I've used.

You are my Sunshine Mini

I've been working on this mini album for awhile and using up some of that great Scenic Route Metropolis paper that I've been hoarding!

And, here are a few of the pages inside:

I've also used some of the chipboard shapes in my hoard and covered them with leftover bits of paper; there are also a few flowers scattered here and there. I love some of the older papers and the bright colors for 'kid' mini books. My granddaughter loves to check out my scrap table to see what is new since she's last visited!

Trying Out A Message Board

We're trying out a message board at Dragonflyscrapbooking.com but it appears there are not many options as to how it will look. So... we are in the testing stage right now and if it can't be fixed up how we want it, we will look elsewhere. I, for one, would like it to be simple and easy to use!

Beautiful Basic Grey!

Look what Colleen made! Aren't they gorgeous! I'm hoping there is another card kit available...

Time for an Update!

Valentines Day is fast approaching but there's still time for a little project!

Here are a couple I've been working on... they are also on the website but I'm putting a few other views here. These two little albums use Basic Grey's 'bittersweet' papers. I found them really easy to work with no matter the type of photos I was using. The first are with old photos of my Mum and Dad and done in sepia and I've cut the album apart (available in the store) and added a ring binding and lots of covered chipboard shapes throughout the album. I left the binding unembellished so the paper was the focus along with the covered chipboard shape you can see here on the lower half of the heart.

This album is for those sweet little photos! I left the album as it is originally bound and made it thick so it would stand open for display.

I loved the bittersweet sticker sheet and used it on both of the projects.

I punched holes around the edges of the hearts just for a change and added some punched flowers.

It's been awhile...

It's been awhile since I've done a post but we have been busy with inventory and updating the website. Also, we have some projects done to upload so stand by with some of the latest of Basic Grey's paper line. Here is a project using the Wassail paper - a great way to save and preserve those Christmas memories. The knob and plate are from 7 Gypsies and I've used a metal DVD tin - inside there is an accordian folded album made with cardstock and more paper.

If you'd like this project and want the paper, check out the website at
