I've been busy!

For the past month I've been busy making a gift for my grandkids mother... a whole box of mini albums - there are 11 - one for each year starting in 1994 when the first child was born and ending with two for 2004 when the
last child was born (I'll catch up to date on the next gift giving day!). The two older kids have spent a lot of time with us on their own since the youngest was 4 (now almost 15!) so she has missed a lot of things we have done. Here they are - This is the whole box:

And here are the albums - each has 12 pages.

What to do with....

All those miscellaneous chipboard pieces! I am a chipboard addict...yes, I'll admit it, I love chipboard - I cover it with paper, paint in, ink it and hoard it. Recently I was challenged to make a mini album with pieces of it and found that I now have a new addiction - no, not just mini albums but mini albums made with different shapes together! Here are a few pages of my inspiration album!

Hello Everyone!

Well.. the Creative Expo was a lot of fun (and a lot of work!) and worth every minute. We are now going to have to get busy and update the Dragonfly Scrapbooking website as the sale items just flew off the table and out of the boxes! Kits went too which was a nice surprise. Thanks Colleen for letting me 'play' with you and help at the store!

First Haircut

Here's a recent layout...my grandson's first haircut - using some of the older Basic Grey paper... and chipboard lettering. I am a Basic Grey fan and find it hard to use, I love it all so much!

It's Saturday Night

I am taking a small break from my scrap table right now... I've just about got the whole room messed up and think it's time to get busy cleaning it up! Do any of you find that you can only get so far and then you have to clean up before the inspiration hits you again? I am constantly reorganizing and finding new things... old ones really and that brings me to another dilemma... to use up my stash or to horde it and buy new things!?

How many of you have a horrendous stash? And what do you find yourself 'saving' to use for that perfect photo!? I'm a chipboard junkie myself and have drawers and drawers of it... I just need that perfect photo... ha ha ha!

A Busy Time!

Between holidays I've been busy scrapbooking and creating mini books for the upcoming "BC Creative Expo at Canada Place in Vancouver on November 7 & 8. Dragonfly Scrapbooking will be there and so will I... I'd love to meet any of you living in the area (no, I don't own the store!). There will be a make and take and lots of interesting things to browse through. Here is part of a little project that will probably be a kit:

I love this Sonoma line from Scenic Route - the colors are a little more vibrant than in this photo and there are lots of different double sided papers in the collection.

BC Crop For Kids

What a great time we had! I even managed to get some layouts done... here they are, although, I am not the best photographer!!
Page one and two of a double pager! I entered these into a contest for Canadian Scrapbooker magazine... they didn't get picked but that's not why I scrap so it wasn't a problem - it was just fun to do. I made the cat 3D as well as the grass is a bit loose in spots in case I want to add photos later.
This is the Basic Grey Archaic paper - I just love it, there are dinosaurs and rocks - it's just fun to work with! It would make great birthday cards and invitations.
This one will get 'tweaked' a little - it's going to be put into a frame.
Isn't he just a little devil!?!

3rd birthday... I love this line of paper.

Something a little simple...I only had a couple of photos for this layout. I just painted a chipboard heart in black to match the theme!
Once upon a time...there was a little girl...and she was me! ha ha ha! I entered this into a stamping contest at the crop - again...not a winner!!

Having Fun!

Wow...I'm just loving that Archaic line from Basic Grey. I've been using it to make an altered project for an Expo happening in November in Vancouver and am loving the look. It's not finished yet but here's a photo of part of it. We are making lots of new kits so stay tuned!

Here's a Tip!

Gluing is such a messy job sometimes... so, here's a little tip to keep it under control. When you get your new phone book/yellow pages, use your old one as a 'gluing station'. Just flip the pages that are used so you have a nice clean, non sticky surface to glue something else! I like to use rubber cement and this works great.

Another Mini Album

I hope you're not getting tired of mini albums... I love them, they are so easy to just pick up and look at. Here's one made with paper and embellishments available at the store (see the link on the sidebar!) If you'd like detailed instructions Colleen will be making up kits for this so just let her know if you are interested.

What To Do With A Paint Tin

I made a similar paint can project for my daughter to hold her school memories. First I spray painted the tin with some primer and then I covered the bottom 2/3 with paper and decorated the tin with rik rak and buttons and some die cut lettering. Then I decorated the lid and added some ribbon and fibre to the handle. Inside the tin there is room for a small book - a diary - and for my daughters I first scanned all her drawings and some of her work that was saved throughout her school years and then had the scans printed 4 x 6 onto photo paper. Then I made a small photo scrapbook to fit in the tin along with those chunky little projects she brought home from school and now she has all her school memories in one tidy little tin! She loved hers - it makes a great grad gift or even decorate a tin and put in baby gifts!

Another Tin Mini Album

This celebration of Halloween was made using a small CD tin and can be held to your fridge or other metal surface with small magnets... or not!
First I covered the top of the tin with paper and then layered strips all over to give it that 'scary old boarded up house look'! It's small and a great way to show off those Halloween photos of your kids... or yourself if you're a kid at heart!

Fridge Magnet Mini

Here's an altered mini CD tin made into an album that can be put onto your fridge with a magnet. You can leave it closed or let it hang down; either way you can decorate it as you like or to coordinate with your kitchen! Just click on the image for a larger view.

A new project

I've been working on a little project for Dragonfly Scrapbooking... see

http://www.dragonflyscrapbooking.com/home.html for supplies. It's not often we think to scrap those old photos into a smaller format so they actually get looked at so here's what I've done:

Yes, it is older paper but I've found that lots of the older papers go very well with the old photos!

The First of Many Posts

I hope! I've set this blog up to post new projects - now all I need is some inspiration and it's good to go!
